We Share in the Lord's Table       led by Mark Bahr

The Forgiven Are Invited

Congregation of Jesus Christ, the Lord has prepared this table for all who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to save them from their sins.  This table is a fellowship of the forgiven.  All forgiven sinners are invited to this table.

Those who wish to serve him must first be served by him.

Those who want to follow him must first be fed by him.

Those who would wash his feet must first let him make them clean.

The Institution   from Luke 22:14-20

When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God."  After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among you.  For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."  And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.  In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

With these words our Lord commands all believers

to eat this broken bread and to drink this cup

in true faith and in the confident hope of his return in glory.

In this supper God declares to us

that our sins have been completely forgiven

through the one sacrifice of Jesus Christ,

which he himself finished on the cross once for all.

The Forgiven Offer Their Thanks

In Christ, we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.  The death of our Lord Jesus Christ has provided this for us. This meal, which reminds of us this fact and in which we celebrate this fact is a blessed gift from you.  We thank you for this gift.  Now, may we be reminded by this meal to extend forgiveness and reconciliation to those who have wronged us.  Amen

Collect for Independence Day / Sunday

Lord God Almighty, in whose Name the founders

of this country won liberty for themselves and for us,

and lit the torch of freedom  for nations then unborn:

Grant that we and all the people of this land may have

grace to maintain our liberties in righteousness

and concord; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
